We are not the only ones enjoying the beauty and bounty of our garden!
Last year it was chipmunks and squirrels that helped themselves to our outdoor larder. As if that wasn’t enough, the birds ate all our berries before we could get to them – their sharp eyes spotted our haskaps, gooseberries, red currants and raspberries! In previous years we’ve lost many plants to deer, including our precious cherry tree.
But this year, so far, our garden visitors have been less destructive. To our surprise, the wild rabbit and her baby bunnies are nibbling the grass around the patio stones rather than our tender lettuce leaves. The newly-fledged morning doves are often seen sheltering under the kale leaves. The baby robins and catbirds seem more interested in the insects and worms.
For now, all is well!
